Dr. Omane Boamah Clarifies Electoral Allegations: No Ballot Swap Between NPP and Kofi Akpalu

In a revealing post on his Facebook wall, Dr. Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), made a bold statement: “Yes! The Electoral Commission is a crime scene!” His remarks come amidst ongoing concerns about the impartiality of the Electoral Commission (EC) ahead of the 2024 presidential elections. Dr. Boamah emphasized that there are many proven facts showing the EC’s bias, but he also sought to clarify a specific allegation that has been circulating regarding a supposed ballot swap between Kofi Akpalu and the NPP during the recent balloting process.

No Evidence of Ballot Swap, Says Dr. Boamah

In his Facebook post, Dr. Omane Boamah firmly stated that there was no ballot swap between Kofi Akpalu and the NPP during the 2024 presidential ballot draw. He urged Ghanaians to scrutinize the available video footage carefully. “Watch the videos carefully, if you see a swap tell us the segment of the video clip that has the evidence,” he wrote. This call to action shows Dr. Boamah’s commitment to transparency and factual accuracy in the NDC’s accusations against the EC.

Dr. Boamah also used the post to reaffirm the NDC’s stance against the EC, stating that their allegations have been proven correct over time. The #EAGLEEYES Team, is a group dedicated to monitoring election activities closely, has consistently exposed irregularities within the EC’s processes. “We will not cry wolf when there’s no wolf,” he wrote, underscoring the NDC’s approach to only bring forward claims backed by evidence.

Proven Bias but No Swap

While Dr. Omane Boamah was clear that there was no ballot swap in this instance, he did not shy away from asserting the EC’s overall bias. He pointed out that the Electoral Commission remains a problematic institution, with numerous instances of partiality favoring the NPP. His post strongly suggests that the NDC will continue to keep a close eye on the EC’s actions, particularly as the country moves closer to the December 7th elections.

Conclusion: NDC Focused on Evidence-Based Claims

Dr. Omane Boamah’s recent statements highlight the NDC’s commitment to holding the Electoral Commission accountable while ensuring that their claims are rooted in proven facts. His clarification on the alleged ballot swap demonstrates the party’s desire to avoid sensationalism and focus on real issues of bias and unfairness in the election process.

As the 2024 elections approach, the NDC is calling on all Ghanaians to stay vigilant and ensure that the democratic process remains free and fair. The #EAGLEEYES Team continues to play a key role in exposing irregularities, and the NDC remains dedicated to safeguarding Ghana’s democracy.

  1. At least Dr. Omane Boamah and Gen Fiifi could have further insisted that, when a party pick a ball, it should be openned immediately there and then for all to see. Picking and going to sit with it allowed space for fishy deals. We MUST not blink an eye when the ballots are being counted, recorded and transmitted. God is ALWAYS in control.
