In a recent Facebook post, JM BA Kwadwo made a passionate appeal to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, urging him to consider appointing over 87 defeated NDC Parliamentary Candidates (PCs) from the 2024 general elections as Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) for their respective constituencies.

According to JM BA Kwadwo, these candidates, despite their loss in the parliamentary elections to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), remain committed to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its vision, particularly the Reset Agenda championed by President Mahama. He believes that their alignment with the president’s policies makes them the ideal representatives at the local governance level to ensure the effective implementation of the NDC’s transformational agenda.
The 2024 elections saw a fierce contest, with several strong NDC candidates narrowly losing their bids to enter Parliament. However, their experience, dedication, and understanding of their constituencies put them in a strategic position to continue serving the party and the nation. By appointing them as MMDCEs, President Mahama would not only be recognizing their contributions but also reinforcing the party’s commitment to grassroots development.

JM BA Kwadwo’s appeal has sparked discussions among party members and political analysts, with many agreeing that such an approach would strengthen the party’s presence at the local level and ensure that the Reset Agenda is effectively implemented across the country.
As President Mahama prepares to form his government, the call to include these dedicated party members in key positions remains a crucial discussion point within the NDC. Whether or not this appeal will influence his decision remains to be seen, but the debate on the strategic positioning of NDC’s defeated PCs continues to gain momentum.
