A super good morning to all comrades of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). As we gear up for the 2024 general elections, it has become clear that former president John Dramani Mahama and the NDC have a strong chance of winning convincingly, especially if special attention is paid to the Eastern and Ashanti regions. However, there is an urgent issue that could derail the party’s efforts in the Eastern Region, which is the ongoing feud between the former Regional Youth Organizer, Okan Mintah, and the current Regional Youth Organizer, Richard Etonam Nyarko (Blibo).
Internal Divisions Threaten NDC’s Youth Unity in Eastern Region
The division stems from a dispute during a regional youth conference held last year, which led to court proceedings and an injunction placed on Richard Etonam Nyarko, preventing him from functioning as the Youth Organizer. Though the Supreme Court of Ghana later reversed this ruling, the conflict has deeply fractured the youth wing in the Eastern Region.
This lack of unity is troubling, especially as the 2024 general elections approach. As the Dean of the Eastern Youth Wing, I, Oscar Kennedy Nyarko, urge the party’s leadership to intervene immediately. It is imperative that a conflict resolution committee be formed to address the lingering tension, foster peace, and restore unity among the youth in the region. Without this, the NDC risks losing critical support, which could jeopardize our chances in the upcoming elections.
Mahama’s Leadership Is Key to Resolving the Conflict
As the flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama is being called upon to take immediate action. His intervention in the feud between Okan Mintah and Richard Etonam Nyarko is crucial. By stepping in to mediate and resolve the conflict, Mahama would not only ensure harmony within the Eastern Youth Wing but also send a strong message that the NDC is committed to winning the 2024 elections through unity and cooperation.
The youth have always been the backbone of the NDC’s electoral efforts, and resolving this internal strife will energize the base ahead of the elections. Mahama’s leadership has the potential to turn this situation into a positive outcome, uniting the youth and mobilizing them to work tirelessly for a resounding victory on December 7th.
A Call for Immediate Action
This is a collective call to all well-wishers and party leaders to step in and assist in resolving this issue. The national youth organizer must also prioritize unity within the Eastern Region to avoid any negative impact on the upcoming elections.
Mahama’s anticipated victory could be at risk if unity is not achieved. Both Okan Mintah and Richard Etonam Nyarko are valuable assets to the party, and it is essential that their differences are set aside for the greater good of the NDC and Ghana. The entire youth wing in the region desires an amicable resolution to this issue, and with Mahama’s involvement, this can be achieved swiftly.
Conclusion
The 2024 elections are crucial for the future of the NDC and Ghana. We cannot afford to allow internal disputes to hinder our progress. As the Dean of the Eastern Youth Wing, I call on John Dramani Mahama to take immediate action to resolve this conflict and bring about the unity needed for victory. Let us all work together to ensure that the NDC triumphs in the 2024 elections and that we secure a better future for all Ghanaians.
